Sean Kingston 'Sedated But Fully Conscious' Following Accident

Sean Kingston remains in critical, but stable condition following a jet ski accident that left him injured over the weekend. A rep for the singer says that he "is sedated but fully conscious" and is currently hooked up to a ventilator with a tube inserted in his throat.

"He is aware of what is going on around him" his rep tells MTV News, while Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment, adds, "Sean Kingston is currently in critical but stable condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. Sean's family asks for privacy at this time, but is thankful to his friends, family and fans for their outpouring of prayers and well wishes."

He "Fire Burning" singer was hospitalized after his watercraft crashed into a small bridge near Miami beach on Sunday (May 29). He was rescued by an off-duty member of the coastguard who says he was "puking up blood out of his mouth" when he arrived on the scene.

Kingston's longtime friend Cassandra Sanchez was riding with him when the accident occurred. She tells TMZ that he was going "really fast" and begged him to slow down for the fear of crashing into the bridge.

He is expected to remain in hospital for "a couple more weeks". "They have a tube down his throat so he can't really talk, but he is lucid and understands whats going on around him", says Sanchez whose ribs and jaws are still sore.
