Britney Spears' Album 'Femme Fatale' Certified Platinum

Pop icon Britney Spears is continuing her streak of success as her 7th studio album Femme Fatale was certified platinum yesterday by the RIAA. The album which was released on March 29th, debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, becoming her 6th #1 album and has since shipped 1 million copies to retailers in the US.

This news definitely comes with a sigh of relief, as many fans were considered with the fate of Spears' latest album. With minimal promotion, lackluster performances and with her use of a body double in her latest music videos, many including myself  were worried that the negative press what is, what many believe, her best album yet.

With the pop superstar's US album certification now reaching 32 million, her first single "Hold It Against Me" shattering airplay records and becoming her 4th #1 hit, as well as her latest single "Till The World Ends" reaching top 5 on the Hot 100. But many are wondering how the album is certified platinum when it only sold 440 thousand copies thus far. It looks like Britney's music, indeed is overshadowing her controversy.
