Britney, GaGa, Beyonce: Who Brought It?

It's an exciting time for music lovers this year, especially for fans of their beloved female artist. Not in a long while have so many high profile ladies released their musical; offerings in tandem (one behind the other) causing both comparison and scrutiny to be immense. It almost harkens back to a time when icons such as Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson and Madonna all competed for the top spot.

While the past year has been an active period for female stars such as Ke$ha, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez and Katy Perry, the eyes of many glared longingly towards 2011. A year which would see Pop's heavy-hitters Lady GaGa, Britney Spears and Beyonce vie- in tandem- for the pole position.  It goes without saying that 'singers' in the vein of Rihanna's and co seem to pop up every year on the Pop music spectrum, yet, no three ladies have amounted the success or of a following as these ladies.

With the release of Britney Spears' 'Femme Fatale' along with the impending release of Lady GaGa's 'Born This Way' and Beyonce new album it definitely leaves the question: Thusfar, who has brought it?!

Britney Spears
She was the best selling female artist in the 00's and has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide. Over the past few years amidst personal mishaps as well as dwindling album sales, she has still managed to accumulate several hits to her roster and even had one of the best selling tours of 2009. Still, since 2004, Spears' performances and videos have left many disappointed and wondering if she still has it.

Yet, while her latest project 'Femme Fatale' underperformed initially, it does seem to have establish legs of some variety, with Stateside sales proving incremental at best and steady at worst. What's more, despite her inabilities, Spears broke records with her #1 'Hold It Against Me' as well as her smash top 10 hit 'Till The World Ends', which is currently smashing on both the Top 40 Mainstream and Top 40 Rhythmic formats.

Her days as a top performer may well be over, yet it looks like fans still want to dance until the world ends.

Lady GaGa
Heralded the Queen of the Digital Charts, Lady GaGa has sold more than 75 million albums and singles in a mere 3 years. After two successful releases in 2008 and 2009 with 'The Fame' and 'The Fame Monster', GaGa caused quite anticipation when she released her 3rd #1 on the Hot 100, 'Born This Way'. The song broke digital and airplay records reaching #1 on every iTunes chart worldwide. Her latest release 'Judas' debuted at #10 on the Hot 100 with a quite impressive radio bullet of over +2200 on Pop radio. Clearly, in spite of the predictable backlash, the masses still have their paws up and rocking with the 26 year old.

Beyonce
Frequently hailed as one of the best performers of all time, Beyonce has accumulated an astonishing 16 Grammys over the course of her 13 year career. The most recent of the 29 year old successes being her multi-platinum 2008 LP 'I Am...Sasha Fierce'. Following an almost 18 month promotional run for the project, many were wondering if the Destiny's Child star was becoming overexposed. Not one to want to hurt her name, the tour de force took some time off, creating forum for discussion as to whether she could simply pick up where she left off upon her return, especially in light of heightened competition. While her comeback single 'Run The World (Girls)' has underwhelmed on the digital charts, and airplay isn't as astonishing as GaGa's and Britney's were, we've all seen the singer redeem herself after a less than stellar start. See (B'Day/Irreplaceable).
